Rochdale – The Last Time

Cian Tyrer scored two tries at Spotland against Cornwall – SWPix

Cornwall are on the road this coming Sunday when Mike Abbott’s side travel to the Crown Oil Arena to face Rochdale Hornets.

Gary Thornton’s side have struggled so far this season but seem to have turned the corner form wise. They go into Sunday’s match hunting a third consecutive win after previous triumphs over winless pair North Wales Crusaders and London Skolars.

Last time the two sides met in Lancashire, on a sizzling August afternoon last year, Rochdale ran out 34-14 winners.

Match Report

Cornwall started the game brilliantly and on-loan winger Jayden Myers crossed out wide to open the scoring for the visitors.

But Rochdale hit back through veteran prop Fuifui Moimoi and the home side never looked back, despite Jack ray scoring again for Cornwall before half time.

In the second half, the game descended into a scrappy, almost farcical affair at times with referee Cameron Worsley issuing eight cards and sending Cole Connolly (Cornwall), Fenton Rogers and Kieran Rush (Rochdale) from the field.
