Head Coach Neil Kelly revealed that he was ‘proud’ of his Cornwall RLFC side after their Betfred League 1 loss at Keighley Cougars in round 15.

The Choughs came up against a fired-up home side who ran in 12 tries to prevail 68-0. Led by a hat-trick from Jamaican try machine Mo Agoro and former NRL star Junior Sa’u’s brace, the runaway league leaders maintained their perfect record of 14 wins from as many games.

Despite the reverse, Kelly found reasons to be positive after the final siren sounded at a sizzling hot Cougar Park.

“We have followed in a long line of clubs that have come here and have lost,” he told cornwallrlfc.co.uk. “We have lost, but not in the total one-way fashion that some other games have been played out against Keighley this season.

“We have put up some tremendous resistance after a few players were unable to make the trip for one reason or another. We have come to Keighley with a slightly depleted squad and we have got a nasty injury with a quarter of the game to go.

“Overall, I am proud of the squad and their efforts but there are aspects of the game that need looking at. There are some principles of the game that my players need to take on board but I can’t criticise the team for their efforts.

“They have played a team that is running hot and has been running hot for most of the year. I don’t expect them to lose a game this season.”
