Nathan Conroy has joined Hunslet for 2023 – Patrick Tod

Cornwall RLFC can confirm that Nathan Conroy has left the club and has joined fellow Betfred League 1 side Hunslet for the 2023 season.

The 27-year-old joined the Choughs as a free agent midway through the club’s maiden professional campaign.

After turning out for the Parksiders in 2021, Conroy, for personal reasons, opted to leave the South Leeds Stadium. But after attending Cornwall’s match against Hunslet in early May, was bitten by the rugby league bug again and made the move to the Duchy.

He made his debut in the 24-20 home loss at home to London Skolars on June 4 and would make eight appearances in total for Cornwall during 2022.

Nathan Conroy celebrates scoring against North Wales – Patrick Tod

Conroy, who started his career at Bradford and made a handful of Super League appearances for the Bulls, scored one try during his time at the Memorial Ground during the 36-12 home reverse at the hands of North Wales Crusaders on August 7.

A hooker by trade, Conroy was often deployed by Cornwall at half-back and he was part of the side that made history by securing the club’s first ever win over West Wales Raiders in June.

He was denied what would have been a Cornwall swansong when suspension ruled him out of the Choughs’ final league match at Midlands Hurricanes earlier this month.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Nathan for his valuable contributions made during 2022 and we wish him the best of luck next term.
