Matchday Guide – London Skolars

March 25, 2023

The Choughs’ home campaign in Betfred League 1 starts with a home clash against London Skolars.

Joe Mbu’s troops travel to the Duchy searching for their first win of 2023. So far, the Skolars have played three league games and been on the wrong side of the scoreboard on each occasion. They were also knocked out of the cup at Rochdale, with former Cornwall man Joe Purcell crossing the whitewash.

For Cornwall, Mike Abbott’s side have played just one league game away at Midlands Hurricanes, with the visitors suffering a 40-6 reverse.

And last time out, Cornwall were narrowly edged out at the Mem 20-14 by National Conference League title favourites Rochdale Mayfield, ending the Choughs’ Betfred Challenge Cup adventure.

When the two sides met in 2022, it was the Skolars who prevailed at both the Mem and New River Stadium. However, when the two sides locked horns in the Duchy, the Choughs came within a converted try of victory, eventually going down 24-20.

The capital return saw Jarred Bassett run in four tries as the Skolars eased to a 46-6 win with Adam Rusling (one try and one goal) scoring all of Cornwall’s points.
