Cornwall RLFC welcome in-form Doncaster to the Memorial Ground this Saturday, July 9 – 1.00pm 

The two sides met in Betfred League 1 at the Eco-Power Stadium on Easter Saturday with the Dons prevailing 52-16. However, there were signs of promise for Cornwall who scored the try of the game through Joe Burton.

Hooker Jake Lloyd bagged his first try for the club while Cornwall finished with a flourish as Jayden Myers scored in the game’s dying embers.

Doncaster, after an inconsistent first half of 2022, have seemingly used the two recent break weeks to ignite genuine promotion hopes.

Before the international matches, Hunslet were thrashed 36-6 on home soil before they face wo tricky looking away fixtures.

First up, Richard Horne’s troops travelled to Colwyn Bay to face North Wales Crusaders and the visitors came away with a magnificent 26-18 win. And then seven days later, the Dons faced Swinton Lions at Heywood Road.

Once again, Horne’s side delivered a magnificent showing to prevail 26-12 over a Lions side that threw away a 12-6 interval lead.

Although the Dons are running red-hot currently, Cornwall themselves are growing in confidence and performance on a weekly basis. After winning a professional match for the first time against West Wales Raiders on June 25, Cornwall pushed Hunslet close last time out at the Mem.

The Parksiders were 36-24 victors but once again, roared on by a partisan and vocal home following, Cornwall came close to a first home victory and triumph over a heartlands team too.

Will that elusive first win in the Duchy come this weekend?
