Match Preview – North Wales (a)

July 28, 2023

Cornwall RLFC travel across the border for the first time this season with the clash against North Wales taking place at Rhyl RFC.

Ahead of this Betfred League 1 Round 19 clash against the Crusaders, here is all your essential pre-match information.

Squad Selection

Cornwall RLFC head coach Mike Abbott has named his 21-man squad for Sunday’s Betfred League 1 clash against North Wales Crusaders.

The round 19 match will take place at Rhyl RFC opposed to the Crusaders’ usual home base Stadium Erias, which is in Colwyn Bay.

New signing Mackenzie Scurr, who joined the Choughs on loan from Championship side Bradford Bulls earlier today, goes straight in the travelling party.

There is also a return to the squad for prop Harry Boots who has recovered from a knee problem picked up in the 28-8 win over Midlands Hurricanes.

However, the Welshman’s return is tempered by the absence of Josh Hartshorne who suffered a concussion injury against Workington Town last time out. Under the return to play protocols, Hartshorne is not eligible for selection.

“Harry Boots is back in and will figure at some point because of Josh Harsthorne missing out under the concussion protocols,” Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk.

“Other than that, we have come through the Workington game and training this week pretty well. It is the business end of the season and we’re in good shape with Mackenzie Scurr’s arrival helping us strengthen up out wide, an area we are a little bit short in.”
