Match Preview – Doncaster (a)

August 19, 2023

Cornwall RLFC’s final away match of 2023 sees Mike Abbott’s side travel to the Eco-Power Stadium to face promotion chasing Doncaster.

Ahead of this Betfred League 1 Round 21 clash against the Dons, here is all your essential pre-match information.

Squad Selection

The Mem chief is boosted by the return of Josh Hartshorne who has missed the last two games under the return to play protocols after suffering a concussion injury against Workington on July 23.

But Hartshorne’s inclusion is tempered by the loss of Nathan Newbound who has been recalled by parent club Hunslet for their match against London Skolars. Callum Abbott is also absent with a virus which has seen him miss training this week.

After missing the Choughs’ last match which ended in defeat against Oldham, Harry Boots, leading scorer Cameron Brown and Tom Ashton are all fully fit once more.

“Tommy Ashton is back with us and that’s a big plus,” Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk. “But we have lost Nathan Newbound who has gone back to Hunslet and he has been amazing for us in the last six weeks.

“Josh Hartshorne being back to full fitness is a plus point though, as is Harry Boots and Cam Brown. There are still some niggles and knocks that we will make late calls on but so far, we have only lost a couple and gained a few more.”
