Loganair Squad Announcement For Keighley Clash

June 21, 2024

Cornwall RLFC head coach Mike Abbott has named his 21-man squad for Sunday’s Betfred League 1 round 13 clash at home to Keighley Cougars – 1.00pm.

The Choughs will be looking to bounce back from Sunday’s 38-14 home reverse at the hands of Rochdale Hornets.

Meanwhile, the Cougars, who will arrive in the Duchy sitting top of the pile, two points ahead of Oldham, were last in action on June 2 when they travelled to the Second City to face Midlands Hurricanes.

Matt Foster’s charges saw off the Birmingham outfit’s challenge and prevailed 25-18.

And when Cornwall locked horns with Keighley earlier this season, on the opening weekend of league fixtures, the Cougars, who were relegated from the Championship last term, were 56-12 victors.

The Choughs have no new injury worries ahead of this, their third of five consecutive matches on home soil at the Memorial Ground.

There is only one change to the squad that was named before the Rochdale game with Chris Bannister replacing Tomo Clark.

Both Harry Boots and Luke Collins suffered facial cuts during the Rochdale game, but both have been declared and take their place in Abbott’s matchday party.

“The focus this week has been on us and not Keighley, or where they are in the table,” Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk

“I was proud of the efforts of the boys after Rochdale and I don’t think anyone who was there could say that the scoreboard was a true reflection of the game.

“We have had a good look at the video and we know where it got away from us against Rochdale. All those things are fixes within our own dressing room and if we can smarten up a little bit, certainly when we have the opposition on the ropes, then we will run well on Sunday.”
