Inaugural Season Match and Season Tickets Now On Sale

As excitement builds towards the start of the 2022 rugby league season, Cornwall RLFC are delighted to reveal season and individual match tickets are now on sale for our inaugural Betfred League 1 campaign.

The club will play home games at Cornwall’s oldest rugby venue – the Memorial Ground in Penryn, a traditional setting for the oval ball game in every sense of the word.

The League 1 season kicks off over the weekend of March 26 and 27 although Cornwall have a bye for the opening round of fixtures.

Neil Kelly’s side open their campaign with a trip to Colwyn Bay to face North Wales Crusaders on April 2 which will see the club taking part in their first competitive fixture.

Eight days later Cornwall will make history by running out in the Duchy’s famous black and gold ensemble as the Midlands Hurricanes are the opposition for our maiden match on home soil.

On what is sure to be the most significant happening in Cornish sport for well over a decade, supporters are now able to book their tickets for this historic occasion and in years to come, it will certainly become an ‘I was there’ moment.

Tickets for the visit of the Hurricanes are priced at £18 for seats and £12 for standing. Due to the limited availability of seating at the Memorial Ground, concessions won’t be available for the main grandstand. However, over-65s, serving armed forces personnel, blue light workers and students in full-time education will be eligible for concessionary rate of £10 – ID will be required.

The club understand the importance of introducing children to the sport of rugby league and the club as a whole. With this in mind, supporters under-16 can watch home games on a match-by-match basis for just £5 with children five and under admitted free of charge.

Along with the Hurricanes’ visit to Cornwall, we will play nine other home matches in 2022.

The most cost-effective way to watch the Choughs during this momentous campaign will be to purchase a season ticket that covers all home league matches.

For a seated season ticket, supporters will only pay £14.40 per match opposed to £18 with a total cost of £144.

A standing season ticket option is available too at just £99 and again, supporters will make a significant saving – £9.90 per match opposed to £12.

As with tickets on an individual match basis, concession season tickets will only be available for standing areas. But once again, those eligible will receive a discount with a concessionary season ticket costing just £80 This works out at £8 per match instead of £10 if paying for every game individually.

And finally, an under-16 season ticket priced at £40 will save younger fans £1 per game with each match costing £4 opposed to £5.

With supporters now able to buy tickets, Cornwall RLFC commercial director Rob Butland says that the club are ‘excited’ to embrace supporter interest in the Duchy’s newest professional sporting entity.

“This is another huge moment for the club,” he enthused. “Our inaugural season is one for the history books – both for rugby league on these shores and for professional sport in Cornwall.

“We’ve been contacted by so many people who are looking to come along to support us which is very encouraging indeed. We just know that all of our games are going to create a buzz that has not been seen in Cornish sport for many years.

“We are acutely aware of how passionate Cornish people are about the Duchy’s traditional colours and we are looking forward to seeing the black and gold out in full force at our games.

“And now, with just under three months until the season starts at home with the match against the Midlands Hurricanes, supporters can secure their place for the entire season or on an individual match basis. This includes away fans looking to support their side against us!

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the Memorial Ground and show Cornwall what rugby league is all about, and to show rugby league what Cornwall is all about as well.”
