Hunslet – The Last Time
May 10, 2023
Cornwall are back on home soil for the first time in well over a month this coming Saturday, May 13 with Hunslet the visitors.
Alan Kilshaw’s side have started the season strongly and currently occupy a play-off spot. They will be hoping to go one better than in 2022 when they finished seventh and were pipped to sixth by Oldham on the final day.
This will be Hunslet’s second trip to the Mem after they first visited the Duchy in early July and came away with a hard fought 36-24 victory.
Cornwall raced from the traps and tries from Aaron Jones-Bishop and Tom Ashton, on his home debut, both converted by Joe Purcell, gave Cornwall a 12-0 lead.
But led by Macauley Hallett, who would bag a hat-trick, Hunslet eventually took control and led 18-12 after 40 minutes.
But Cornwall scored first through Liam Whitton in the second stanza to tie the scores at 18-18. Hallett and then Josh Jordan-Roberts put Hunslet back in control before Jack Ryder completed the scoring for the visitors.
Cornwall had the last say when Harry Aaronson intercepted a loose Hunslet pass to run 80 metres and he dotted down under the posts.
