Cornwall RLFC are delighted to announce that Welshman Harry Boots has signed a new contract, keeping him at the Memorial Ground for the 2024 Betfred League 1 season.

The 27-year-old made 17 appearances for the Choughs last term across all competitions. He scored two tries with his efforts both coming away from home – in a losing cause against Dewsbury and during the side’s remarkable 40-38 win over North Wales Crusaders.

Boots joined Cornwall from the now defunct West Wales Raiders in February and his stellar first campaign in the Duchy saw him become a firm fans favourite.

The Cardiff born prop also received international honours when he played for the Wales Chairman’s Select Side in their match against Cumbria, as part of Kyle Amor’s testimonial.

“Last season was quite successful for both myself and the team, but we both have more to prove in 2024,” Boots told cornwallrlfc.co.uk

“We will be aiming high for 2024 as we have proved that we can compete against all teams at this level. The next step is to improve our consistency and with the backing of our fans, I know we can do it.

“The fans were brilliant to me last year and they helped breed such a positive culture for rugby league in Cornwall. They are genuinely interested in how each individual player is developing and even when results didn’t go our way, they could still appreciate effort and performances.

“This club has been successful so far and I am delighted to be a part of it moving forward for the 2024 season.”

Meanwhile, Cornwall RLFC head coach Mike Abbott, added: “Harry really gave it his all last season and like us as a team, grew as the year progressed.

“He demonstrated that in the right environment, he is a very capable performer at this level. The middle was a bit of an issue for us last year due to injuries, but Harry was consistent throughout.

“He struggled a bit with his fitness towards the end of the year, but after a full pre-season, we know he will be ready to hit the ground running in 2024.”
