Fixtures For 2024 Revealed

December 3, 2023

Cornwall RLFC can reveal its full fixture list for the 2024 Betfred League 1 season.

As revealed yesterday, the Choughs will open their third professional campaign away at Keighley Cougars on Sunday, March 17 with a 1.00pm kick-off.

Seven days later, Cornwall will play in front of their own fans for the first time in the league next year as North Wales Crusaders will be the visitors.

The next two weeks will see Cornwall sit out as the club have been handed a bye in rounds three and four.

Mike Abbott’s charges return to action on April 14 with a trip to Boundary Park to face pre-season promotion favourites Oldham. The Roughyeds have left their former temporary home at Whitebank to share with the Town’s football club, who ply their trade in the National League.

Cornwall’s second league game of 2024 at home is against Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday, April 21 with the Choughs defeating the Birmingham outfit in the Duchy last year.

And the fourth month of the year is brought to a close by a visit to Derwent Park to face Anthony Murray’s Workington Town in round seven.

May begins with Cornwall on the road to Rochdale Hornets, the Spotland side were defeated by Cornwall on the final day of 2023, thus handing Cornwall a maiden win over a Heartlands side.

A quick return fixture against Oldham is the second encounter for Cornwall in May and over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month, the Choughs travel to Leeds to face Hunslet.

After playing just three matches at home in as many months, Cornwall will play four on the bounce in June. The round 11 clash on Sunday, June 2 will see a first ever meeting with fellow expansion outfit Newcastle Thunder.

Rochdale travel to the Duchy a week later with Keighley following suit in round 13 and with the season moving past its mid-way point, North Wales Crusaders make their second trip to Penryn on Sunday, June 30.

After six consecutive weekends of action, Cornwall have a bye over the first weekend in July before returning to the fold on July 14 and the club’s shortest away trip of the season to face Midlands Hurricanes in Birmingham.

As the regular rounds enter their final straight, Cornwall complete July at home to Workington and then away to Newcastle.

August starts at Rochdale before consecutive games at home to Hunslet and Midlands. The game against the Parksiders is Cornwall’s only home game to take place on a Saturday, after a request by the Yorkshire outfit.

The second Midlands clash at the Rec will be Cornwall’s last game at home before the side travels to Oldham once more.

The curtain comes down on the 2024 regular rounds on the first day of September with a trip to Colwyn Bay to lock horns against North Wales Crusaders.
