First Home Fixture For 2024 Revealed

December 2, 2023

Cornwall RLFC’s 2024 Betfred League 1 campaign at home will begin with the visit of North Wales Crusaders on Sunday, March 24 – 3.00pm.

Carl Forster’s side will travel to the Duchy in round two, fresh from their play-off heroics which saw the Colwyn Bay outfit reach the promotion shoot-out finale, narrowly losing to Doncaster.

The Crusaders’ run to the play-offs was ultimately kick-started by their remarkable 40-38 reverse at the hands of Cornwall on July 30.

In a match played at Rhyl RFC, Cornwall scored seven tries in a dominant first half showing to lead 40-4 at the interval.

However, the second half was a complete role reversal, with North Wales dominant and despite matching Cornwall’s number of tries scored, Brad Billsborough could only convert five times, thus handing Mike Abbott’s side victory.

Earlier in the campaign, at the Memorial Ground, it was another game in which a tale of two halves ensued. After 40 minutes, the game was evenly posted with North Wales 18-10 ahead.

But the second half saw total visiting dominance and they scored 24 points without reply to take maximum competition points.
