Ellie France Appointed Cornwall RLFC Physio

December 13, 2022

Cornwall RLFC are delighted to announce that Ellie France has become the club’s new physiotherapist.

The 23-year-old moves to the Duchy after holding a similar role with the Choughs’ Betfred League 1 rivals Hunslet in 2022.

After graduating from Leeds Beckett University as a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Therapy, she gained experience at Super League side Castleford Tigers, Championship outfit Bradford Bulls and professional football club Rotherham United.

Last season, France became the head sports therapist with the Parksiders as they failed to reach the play-offs after a final day loss to Oldham.

France replaces Sam Wicketts who was Cornwall’s physiotherapist last term and has opted to step down due to work commitments.

“We are really pleased to have secured the services of Ellie for next season,” general manager John Beach told cornwallrlfc.co.uk.

“Ellie has experience of working for a League 1 club along with others higher up the rugby league food chain and a professional football club in Rotherham United.

“Attracting a physiotherapist with Ellie’s credentials further strengthens our backroom staff as we prepare for our second professional season.

“Although we are delighted to welcome Ellie to the Memorial Ground, we must pay tribute to the contribution of Sam Wickettts who held the same position last season.

“Sam was popular and well-respected by the players and off-field staff at the club whilst she worked closely with our club doctor Dr John Garman.

“We wish Sam well in the future and she will always be a welcome visitor at the Memorial Ground.”
