Disciplinary: Match Review Panel

August 24, 2023

Cornwall RLFC duo Tom Ashton and Josh Hartshorne have both been charged with Grade B offence by the Rugby Football League’s Match Review Panel (MRP).

The offences took place in Cornwall’s Betfred League 1 round 21 clash away to Doncaster on August 20.

The pair have also been fined £40 but will not face any further punishment and are available for selection in the Choughs’ final league match against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday.

Ashton was charged with dangerous contact on Doncaster winger Tom Halliday in the fifth minute of the match which took place at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Hartshorne, meanwhile, in the 15th minute of the same game, was charged with late contact on passer. The Doncaster player was Albert Vete, a recent loan signing from Super League side Castleford Tigers.

Cameron Brown was sent to the sinbin for an alleged offence of other contrary behaviour after Halliday scored the first of his two tries just before half-time.

But the MRP ruled that the Australian’s punishment of a yellow card was suffice.
