Nathan Conroy has rejoined Cornwall – Patrick Tod

Cornwall RLFC are delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Conroy, until the end of the 2024 Betfred League 1 season.

This will be 29-year-old’s second spell with the Choughs after he made eight appearances, scoring one try, during the club’s maiden professional campaign in 2022.

Conroy started his rugby career at former world champions Bradford Bulls and played a handful of Super League games for the Odsal outfit.

He has also featured for Dewsbury Rams, Coventry Bears, Oxford and most recently Hunslet.

Conroy had a lead hand in both the Parksiders’ victories over Cornwall last season, scoring a try and claiming the Man of the Match award from League Express when Yorkshire outfit prevailed 54-10 at the Memorial Ground.

This season, Conroy had joined relegated Keighley but after failing to make an appearance for the Cougars, he has re-joined Cornwall.

“Nathan is always someone we have kept in touch with as a club,” head coach Mike Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk. “He knows a number of our lads and when he was with Cornwall the first time, he was really popular in the dressing room and with the fans.

“We saw what Nathan is all about when he played for Hunslet at our place last season because he was outstanding. Although he is predominantly a nine, we know he is very accomplished in the halves so gives us good options.

“We were naturally disappointed to lose Liam Whitton this week, who leaves with our best wishes and in very amicable circumstances too.

“But his departure is tempered by the inclusion of two very good players in Nathan and Bailey Black.”
