Cornwall RLFC Sign Jamie Prisk and Andy Kay

March 31, 2022

On the eve of Cornwall RLFC’s competitive rugby league bow, the club have secured the services of Jamie Prisk and Andy Kay for the 2022 Betfred League 1 season.

Both players attended Cornwall’s open player trial in January and had been training with the side. After impressing Choughs’ head coach Neil Kelly, the pair have been subsequently inked terms for our maiden professional campaign.

Prisk, 29, plays predominantly as a loose forward and has played rugby union for both Redruth and St Ives. He also has rugby league experience with the Cornish Rebels and Cornwall county side.

“I’m excited for the challenge and it will be a massive test,” said Prisk. “I want to get stuck in and give it my best shot because it will take me out of my comfort zone – that’s a good thing.

“We have some good boys in our squad and they have all made me feel very welcome in the past few weeks at training. We have gelled really well and can’t wait to get started up in North Wales.”

Meanwhile, experienced campaigner Kay, who as a teenager played for both Leeds Rhinos and Featherstone Rovers, adds further depth to the Choughs’ squad.

At home in the hooking role, Kay has also played for the Navy and Combined Forces Rugby League teams whilst serving.

“We are delighted to sign both Jamie and Andy,” added Cornwall RLFC general manager John Beach. “Jamie is a player who has all the tools in his locker to take League 1 by storm and from talking to him, he can’t wait to get going.

“Andy brings his previous rugby league experience to the group and this facet to his game will be so important throughout the campaign as our squad who have played rugby union previously, make the transition into league.”

Both Jamie and Andy are available to sponsor for the 2022 Betfred League 1 season. Any interested businesses and individuals who wish to sponsor our two newest signings can contact Cornwall RLFC commercial director Rob Butland for more information –
