Cornwall Re-sign Prop Tennison On Loan

May 16, 2023

Cornwall have re-signed prop Leo Tennison for another two week period from Super League side Hull Kingston Rovers.

The former Skirlaugh junior made a similar temporary move last month and made his competitive Cornwall debut in the 36-16 reverse at play-off chasers Oldham.

Tennison then returned to his parent club and featured for the Robins’ reserve side as they defeated their Wakefield Trinity counterparts 30-6 at Belle Vue last Friday.

But he will be back in contention for the Choughs this coming weekend as Mike Abbott takes his side to Rochdale Hornets, looking to bounce back from a 54-10 home reverse at the hands of Hunslet on Saturday.

With Jack Ray suspended and Brad Howe forced to miss the match due to return to play protocols after a concussion injury suffered against the Parksiders, Tennison will provide strength to the Choughs’ options in the front row.

He will also be available for Cornwall’s next home game with winless North Wales Crusaders visiting the Mem on Sunday, May 28.

“I thought Leo was brilliant for us at Oldham,” head coach Abbott told cornwallrlfc.co.uk. “This was his first experience of senior football and in the second half, he punched some real holes in Oldham.

“He fronted up well against some experienced middles at this level like (Luke) Nelmes and (Deane) Meadows and never took a backward step. He carried really well in attack and was strong in defence too.

“We are pleased to have him for the next couple of games and thank Hull KR for their help once more.”
