Cornwall Name Squad For Hunslet Clash

June 30, 2022

Cornwall RLFC head coach Neil Kelly has named his squad for Saturday’s home Betfred League 1 clash against play-off chasing Hunslet.

Fresh from the Coughs’ maiden professional win at West Wales Raiders last week, Kelly has received mixed news in terms of injury and availability for the Parksiders’ trip to the Duchy.

Hooker Luke Collins is serving the second of his two-game suspension while Louis Collinson is ruled out with an injury suffered in the 24-4 triumph over the Raiders.

Anthony Mullally is unavailable as are Adam Rusling and Nathan Cullen with both players required by their parent club Hull Kingston Rovers.

However, in better news for former Super League Coach of the Year Kelly, recent recruit from rugby union Brad Howe could be in line for his first Cornwall start.

Tom Ashton and Charley Bodman will make their first appearances in the Duchy for Cornwall if selected, against Hunslet, a club they have both played for recently. Nathan Conroy, Aaron Jones-Bishop and Jack Ray have also had spells at the South Leeds Stadium.

For the Parksiders, they have named Leeds Rhinos loanee Joe Hird in their travelling party. Hird played twice for Cornwall earlier this season whilst on loan from the Super League giants. Ironically, his final appearance for the Choughs came against Hunslet in May when the Yorkshire outfit triumphed 54-16 on home soil.
