Cornwall Name Squad for Doncaster Clash

July 7, 2022

Cornwall RLFC head coach Neil Kelly has named his 21-man squad for the Betfred league 1 round 14 clash against Doncaster.

Richard Horne’s side make the trip to the Duchy this coming Saturday, July 2, looking for a third consecutive away triumph.

The Dons have laid bare their promotion credentials in recent weeks by defeating both North Wales Crusaders and Swinton Lions on the road.

For the Choughs, they will be looking to continue recent improvements which saw a maiden professional triumph picked up in round 12 as West Wales Raiders were beaten 24-4.

Last time out, Kelly’s troops delivered their best showing against a heartlands side so far in 2022 with a 36-24 home reverse at the hands of Hunslet.

For the Choughs’ second home match in the space of seven days, Kelly has been boosted by the return of Louis Collinson from injury and Luke Collins from suspension.

Hull Kingston Rovers loan duo Adam Rusling and Nathan Cullen are also available for selection after they were unable to play against Hunslet, due to the terms of their loan agreement with the Super League outfit.

Nathan Conroy is named in Kelly’s matchday squad after he missed his first game for the club against the Parksiders, since joining Cornwall in mid-May.

Recent rugby union recruit Brad Howe doesn’t make the squad due to a prior personal commitment but his unavailability is tempered with the inclusion of new signing Myles Tate.

Cornwall’s 21 is completed by Bradford Bulls pair Sam Arundel and Marcus Green, who are eligible to play for the Choughs under a dual-registration agreement between the two clubs. Arundel has appeared once for Cornwall this season in the 48-22 defeat at Oldham on April 24.

Green, if selected for the 17, will make his bow in black and gold.
