Cornwall Become Rugby League Shirt Day Ambassadors
August 7, 2023
Cornwall RLFC are proud to announce that the club has become an official ambassador for Rugby League Shirt Day (RLSD).
Founded in 2022 by Bryan Cowin and Andy Lee, the event involves players, fans and celebrities wearing rugby league shirts for a day, showcasing their chosen ensembles on social media, and then donating to charity.
RLSD raises funds for two charities very close to the hearts of rugby league: The Steve Prescott Foundation and Motor Neurone Disease Association.
“The day is the second of our now annual event, showcasing the popularity of rugby league,” said Cowin. “Everyone within the game is aware of the stories of these two legends (Rob Burrow and Steve Prescott)
“We envisage the visual effect of shirts from all over the world will help raise awareness for two amazing charities.”
After being at the forefront of the first RLSD last September, Cornwall are once again set to back this outstanding fundraising initiative.
“As a club were a thrilled and honoured to be named as ambassadors for Rugby League Shirt Day,” added Cornwall’s head of media and communications Gareth Davies.
“The day raises money for two fantastic charities in the Steve Prescott Foundation and MND Association that support our greatest game.
“We would urge all rugby league fans in Cornwall and the wider game to wear your old shirts or current teams colours on Friday, September 22 and then donate.”
