Cornwall Announce Squad For Skolars Clash

June 2, 2022

Cornwall coach Neil Kelly has named his 21-man squad for Saturday’s Betfred League 1 clash at home to London Skolars – 3.00pm.

After a period of inactivity owing to the scheduled break week for the Betfred Challenge Cup, Kelly and his troops welcome the Skolars to Penryn.

The visitors were buoyed by their first win of the campaign last Friday against Oldham Rougyeds at the New River Stadium. The game, which acted as an unofficial curtain raiser to the Challenge Cup, was watched by a bumper three-figure gate.

And in a further boost to the Skolars’ hopes for 2022, they have re-signed Philippines international Mike Greenhaigh and he goes straight into head coach Joe Mbu’s travelling party.

But it’s not just London who have been busy in the transfer market this week as Cornwall have also made two notable captures.

Firstly teenage half-back Adam Rusling’s loan move from Super League outfit Hull Kingston Rovers has been extended until the end of the 2022 campaign.

His long-term sabbatical to the Duchy was then followed by the permanent capture of Jamaican flyer Aaron Jones-Bishop and both players are named in Kelly’s matchday squad.

Long-term injury victims Jack Ray and Aaron Thomson are edging closer to a return but are still not fit for contention. Hooker Jake Lloyd’s recovery from a suspected dislocated elbow continues while his fellow number nine Sam Gilder misses out due to a head injury.
