Betfred League 1 Round Six Preview

April 16, 2023

Tom Halliday and Doncaster face Oldham today – Cornwall Sports Media

Four matches take place across round six of Betfred League 1 in 2023 this weekend with all games kicking off at 3.00pm today (Sunday).

Three teams currently remain undefeated in the competition – league leaders Dewsbury Rams, second-placed Doncaster and third-placed Oldham.

That will change come 5.00pm this evening, however, when the latter two face off at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium as someone’s ‘0’ looks certain to go.

Both teams picked up victories last time out, with Doncaster triumphing 48-16 against Cornwall with the final scoreline flattering Richard Horne’s troops. Oldham, meanwhile, racked up 56 points against local rivals Rochdale Hornets.

Further north in Yorkshire, the Choughs will lock horns with Dewsbury Rams for the first time ever as the side, relegated from the Championship in 2022, play a second successive league fixture on home soil.

Last time out on Good Friday, Liam Finn’s side were 12-6 winners over fellow promotion hopefuls Hunslet.

The Parksiders will be looking to bounce back in the best and quickest possible fashion at the South Leeds Stadium this afternoon as Midlands Hurricanes, who have sat out over the past two weekends, are their opponents.

The round is completed at Spotland where beleaguered Rochdale, with just one win to their name so far this season, host Workington Town. The Hornets, as previously mentioned, meekly surrendered local bragging rights to Oldham over Easter.

Town, meanwhile, got the better of North Wales Crusaders in their most recent outing.
