November 13, 2022
Cornwall RLFC’s full fixtures for the 2023 Betfred League 1 season can be revealed.
After a trip to Midlands Hurricanes on February 19, the Choughs will then take part in the Betfred Challenge Cup over the weekend of February 25 and 26.
March starts with Mike Abbott’s men sitting out round two as is one of the club’s two scheduled bye weeks.
If the side progress in the Challenge Cup, we will play in round three on the weekend of March 11. The first league action for Cornwall comes on March 19 when Abbott’s troops travel to West Wales Raiders – the scene for the Choughs’ maiden professional win.
March is rounded off with a first home league game of 2023 when London Skolars are the visitors to the Mem.
Just two matches are scheduled for April – cup commitments aside with Doncaster travelling to the Duchy before Cornwall face relegated Dewsbury Rams at the Tetley’s Stadium.
A four week fixture block awaits Cornwall in May with home matches against Hunslet and North Wales Crusaders while there are away trips to Greater Manchester to lock horns with Oldham and Rochdale Hornets.
June starts with Cornwall’s longest trip of the season to Workington and this marks the half-way stage of the Choughs’ campaign.
Dewsbury and West Wales are on the road to the South West in June, sandwiched between a visit to the South Leeds Stadium to play Hunslet.
July starts with our second and final bye with London (away) following. Back-to-back home matches against Midlands and Workington follow the capital visit. Colwyn Bay and the North Wales Crusaders await Cornwall on July 30.
The season is rounded off, excluding any potential play-off matches, in August with a home clash with Oldham. Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium is Cornwall’s final regular league match away day before the campaign is closed with a home game against Rochdale Hornets.
