Cornwall RLFC are on the road this coming Sunday, May 7 with this the club’s second and possibly last trip to the Vestacare Stadium.

The Ground

For the final season, irrespective of which division Oldham ply their trade in next season, this will be the last year the Roughyeds call Whitebank, known as the Vestacare Stadium for sponsorship reasons, home.

For 2024, the club will move back to Boundary Park, home of Oldham Athletic FC. The Roughyeds used Boundary Park as their home ground until 2009 and prior to that, in the years after leaving the Watersheddings in 1997.

In recent years, Whitebank’s playing surface has been changed to become fully artificial. It hosts Avro FC, who play in the North West Counties league, along with Oldham.

Although the stadium, which opened in 1992, has always been primarily used as a football facility, the seats in the main grandstand came from Wilderspool, the former home of Super League giants Warrington Wolves.

Spectator Facilities

There is both seating and standing provisions at Whitebank. Seating is in the only covered accommodation which runs just short of half the length of the pitch. Its elevated position means it gives a good view of all the game.

To the left of the grandstand is the camera gantry and dugouts with no spectator access.

The reaming three sides of the ground are all open standing, bar a small section of cover on the opposite side the grandstand, although only on one level.

Both teams enter the pitch from behind the clubhouse end of the stadium.

The licensed clubhouse serves a range of drinks (alcoholic and soft) while there is a burger bar by the main entrance to both the ground and clubhouse.
