Cornwall travel to London Skolars this coming Saturday – Patrick Tod

Cornwall RLFC travel to the capital this coming Saturday as the Choughs face London Skolars at the New River Stadium.

The Ground

The Skolars’ home base, which is also known as the White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, is situated in Haringey, North London. The ground is only a short walk from the recently constructed Tottenham Hotspur stadium, home of the Premier League football side Tottenham Hotspur.

Formed back in 1995 as Student Rugby League Old Boys before changing their name to London Skolars in 1997, the side have always called the New River Stadium home.

Accepted into rugby league’s professional ranks in 2003, the Solars also share their stadium with a number of other local sporting entities. Enfield and Haringey Athletics Club, Wood Green Weightlifting Club, Park View FC, Harringey Rhinos RFC and Harringey Cycling Club.

The New River Stadium pitch is an artificial 4G surface similar to the pitch that Cornwall experienced when they played at the Vestacare Stadium, home of Oldham Rougyeds, back in April.

Spectator Facilities 

Spectators will be housed in the main stand which has a capacity of just over 1,000. In the event of inclement weather, the stand is fully covered with an almost unobstructed view – bar one floodlight pylon.

Refreshments will be available in the Skolars Bar both pre and post game. The facility is situated on the first floor of the clubhouse. The club advise that a happy hour will run from 1.30pm until 2.30pm pre-game and 5.00pm-6.00pm after the full time siren. All beers, ciders and glasses of wine are just £2.50. 

There club also run a meal deal facility with a pie and beer costing £5 with a pie and soft drink £4. 

Wood Green underground station

Travel 

New River Stadium is served by Wood Green underground station and this is approximately one mile from the ground. Wood Green is on the Piccadilly Line and is just 15 minutes from Kings Cross.

Any supporters travelling by train are urged to check their route in advance due to proposed industrial actions which may affect some services and operators on Saturday. 

If fans are travelling by car then a pay and display car park is situated next to the main stand. Supporters are advised that street parking is alao available but this is limited and street signage is to be checked before leaving any vehicle.

Tickets are available in advance and priced accordingly

Adult: £15 plus £1.26 booking fee

Concession: £10 plus £0.84 booking fee

Match Programme

The club have advised that they will be not be selling a hard copy match programme. However, for any supporters who book tickets in advance, they will be sent an electronic matchday offering which contains the standard range of player interviews, historical stats, team news and statistics.
