Loan star Adam Jones is predicting a ‘tough test’ for Cornwall RLFC at Doncaster today.

The 19-year-old joined Cornwall on a temporary two-week switch from Super League giants Wigan before the history-making home match against Midlands Hurricanes and Jones very much caught the eye.

He picked up the supporters’ man of the match award and also capped his first senior start with a try.

Despite an excellent showing individually, Cornwall’s maiden home match against the Hurricanes ended in a 60-14 loss. But a productive week on the training field for Jones and his team mates see the Choughs searching for further improvement at the Eco-Power Stadium.

“We know Doncaster will be a tough test but we have trained really well this week,” Jones told cornwallrlfc.co.uk. “We are hoping for a result but this is a learning curve for the club and we have also spoken at length about improving on the previous two games at North Wales and at home to Midlands.

“For me personally, I just want to do the best job for Cornwall by playing well. The main aim for me was coming down here to get my name out there and I think I did that in the first game.

“It is all about continuing that and showing everyone that the match against Midlands wasn’t a one off for me. It was nice to start with a try last week and I would take another against Doncaster but the team performance is far more important.”

Jones added that despite the loss to Midlands and the challenges of starting a club from scratch, he, along with Wigan team mate Toby Brannan, are also benefiting from being in the Duchy – both on and off the pitch.
