Oldham Roughyeds

Ground: Whitebank Stadium (1,500)
Coach: Stuart Littler
Captain: Gareth Owen
Last season: 13th Championship (relegated)

Oldham will be looking to bounce back from their relegation last term under new head coach Stuart Littler.

The 42-year-old was handed the Oldham reins in October 2021 and became a permanent replacement for previous incumbent Matt Diskin, who left the club part-way through last term.

Littler, who was also Ireland’s coach until he was recently replaced by Ged Corcoran, is assisted by Brendan Sheridan. Along with Brian McDermott, Sheridan battled to keep the Roughyeds in the second tier in the wake of Diskin’s departure.

With the interim duo’s quest to keep Oldham up ultimately failing short, the club have now turned to Littler who was, until last season, coach at Swinton – another club relegated from the Championship into League 1.

For 2022, Oldham will return to Whitebank after spending time playing at Bower Fold, the home of Stalybridge Celtic FC as this ground met Championship ground grading regulations.

Quick Oldham facts:

  • The club, under their Bears moniker, were founding members of Super League.
  • They have won four top-flight titles with the last of those coming in season 1956-57. Oldham have also lifted the Challenge Cup on three separate occasions too.
