Cornwall RLFC

Oldham

Ground: Vestacare Stadium (1,500)
Coach: Stuart Littler
Captain: Martin Ridyard
Season 2023 Finish: 6th League 1

It was a season of two halves for Oldham as a poor opening to 2022 saw the Roughyeds way off the pace and looking like they would miss out on a play-off berth.

But their form improved dramatically as the business end of the season approached and a run of successive wins, which included a last day shoot out for sixth win over Hunslet, saw Oldham finish in the final play-off berth.

Oldham’s season ended with a 38-24 loss to bitter local rivals Rochdale in the first round of the play-offs but the improved showings at the back end of 2023, coupled with a concerted recruitment drive for this term, which has resulted in the signings of Patrick Ah Van from North Wales Crusaders and Lewis Sheridan (Rochdale), a promotion tilt is very much on the cards for Stuart Littler’s men.

Quick Oldham Facts:

  • The club, under their Bears moniker, were founding members of Super League in 1996.
  • Oldham have won four top-flight titles with the last of those coming in season 1956-57, whilst the club have also been Challenge Cup winners three times.
